Atalian Servest are a large manufacturing services and facilities management business with some 28,000 employees in the UK. In 2016, they launched a major apprenticeship programme, but quickly realised they had a major obstacle in that many potential apprenticeship candidates did not have the required GCSE Level 5 or above qualification for Maths and English.
Therefore, they turned to LearnBox, a business with an online Learner Management System (LMS) to deliver functional skills courses in schools, colleges and the workplace. LearnBox provided them with licences for their online Maths and English functional skills (equivalent to GCSE level 5, as required). To date over 80 candidates have completed the English and over 50 the Maths, all of whom have passed the exam (>90% first time) and have therefore progressed onto the apprenticeship programme.
LearnBox are extremely proud of this achievement and the positive effect it has had on those candidates who had all previously failed their GCSE exams at school, many repeatedly.
