Southchurch High School: boosting Progress 8

Your Favourite Teacher was led by Tina Plucknett, Head of Year 11, with a focus on improving English and Maths results.

The platform was used in tutor time and as homework.

• YFT resources and staff used in booster sessions
• YFT usage data informed intervention and mentoring
• YFT used to facilitate parental support for students at risk of underperforming
• Used by pupils on long term absence

IMPACT
Southchurch celebrated significant improvements in the English Language, Literature and Maths results in August 2019, with the school’s Progress 8 score rising by a massive 0.5! Results in English and Maths also rose, with an additional 9% of students achieving grades 5-9 in both subjects.

The school has now launched Your Favourite Teacher with students in Years 9 to 11, and they are enjoying healthy usage of the platform, with around 3,000 hours of activity in the first term of the year.
