Assistive technology company, Scanning Pens were named Company of the Year at the 2020 Bett Awards, held at ExCel London on Wednesday 22nd January.

The Scanning Pens team were presented with the award for Company of the Year (more than 3m turnover) at the Bett Awards by actress, Sally Philips – who is a valued supporter of the company’s reading aids.

At the 2019 Bett Awards, Scanning Pens took home the award for Exporter of the Year, as a result of the company’s impressive international growth. This year, Scanning Pens reached the Bett Award finalist status in four categories: Digital Devices, Special Educational Needs Solutions, Exporter of the Year and Company of the Year.

The Bett Show, in association with BESA, is an international affair, of which educators and exhibitors alike travel from around the world to attend. The annual event features the latest developments in the world of education technology and is known to decide the future of learning in the ever-evolving landscape of the industry.

Since being named Exporter of the Year at the Bett Awards 2019, Scanning Pens have joined forces with the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) by sponsoring their BDA Helpline, which enabled the BDA to increase their open hours. The company have also made strides to promote positivity around dyslexia with their global movements entitled, ‘Go Red’ and ‘Succeed with Dyslexia’.

Co-Founder and CEO of Scanning Pens, Jack Churchill said, “We have been coming to the Bett Show for 17 years now, so we consider the event to have played a huge part in our company history, and due to the event’s incredible atmosphere, innovative exhibitors and esteemed educators, it will always be a part of our future.”

Churchill continued, “To be globally recognised for a second consecutive year at the Bett Awards is a huge honour. Since taking home the award for Exporter of the Year last year, we have been on a mission to learn, grow and adapt as a company and we’re glad to see that the hard work has paid off. With so many incredible companies working in the education sector, the fact that the Company of the Year award has been awarded to a business that is in the Special Needs market is fantastic.  We work with the 1 in 10 that have dyslexia, that struggle in class, and in their exams to access printed materials, so this award will give us renewed momentum to break down more barriers and support even more people to read independently.  I hope this award is also a dynamic driver for other small companies, that the work we all do makes a big difference to the outcomes of people’s lives.”

With two new products, dyslexia awareness campaigns and global expansion, Scanning Pens hope to continue their success into 2020 – and beyond.
