Botley™ the new Coding Robot by Learning Resources® proved a huge hit at London Toy Fair, where not only did he win a Toy Fair Hero Award, he also appeared on BBC Breakfast with Steph McGovern.
Botley is designed to teach hands-on STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) skills to children as young as age five, providing hands-on exposure to fundamental coding concepts in a fun way that helps kids learn through play. Botley is 100-percent screen free, and does not require the use of a smartphone or tablet.
Botley was unveiled at the 2018 London Toy Fair. This annual event, held at Olympia Grand in London, is the UK’s largest dedicated toy, game and hobby trade show, and welcomes more than 270 companies exhibiting thousands of products to visitors including retailers, buyers and the media.
The British Toy and Hobby Association chose a small selection of toys they felt represent some of the most exciting and innovative products launched at the toy fair and presented them with a Toy Fair Hero Award – Learning Resources’ Botley the Coding Robot was a winner of this prestigious award.
Learning Resources Inc was founded in 1984 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Ten years later in 1994, Managing Director Dennis Blackmore founded Learning Resource Ltd and set up a base in King’s Lynn. The purpose was to serve the UK, European markets, the Middle East, Africa and India. Learning Resources continues to grow and produce products that are educational as well as fun.
Following the success of this week’s London Toy Fair, Dennis Blackmore was interviewed on BBC Breakfast by Steph McGovern and Botley the Coding Robot was a star again as he was demonstrated on the breakfast TV show
Dennis Blackmore said: “we are delighted that both the Toy Fair and BBC Breakfast recognised Botley’s special qualities and potential. Botley is both fun and educational in the tradition of all our toys and games at Learning Resources. Designed to introduce boys and girls as young as five years old to coding and simple programming, Botley’s usefulness grows as the child’s learning grows”.
