Twoey, a British manufacturer of furniture, learning aids and educational resources wins prestigious business award in manufacturing for their recently expanded operation in Wigton, Cumbria.
Twoey are a multi award-winning company, with an inspiring three family generations working within the business. The company manufactures and supplies an entirely unique range of educational products to schools, nurseries and libraries across the globe. The manufacturing award recognizes the immense efforts the company goes to, to ensure the highest level of product quality and service, which is evident in their long standing and loyal customer base.
The Cumbria Family Business Awards ceremony took place in Kendal on 10th March, and was hosted by the very entertaining Hairy Biker, Dave Myers, who is a proud Cumbrian and is passionate about his home county. The evening was a very glamorous night celebrating family business achievements across the North West, championing local enterprise and the Cumbrian community.
The now established and highly reputable Twoey brand was originally the brainchild of engineer Mike Miller, over 20 years ago, when he identified a gap in the market for a range of high quality, robust children’s furniture able to withstand the demands of children at play. From these beginnings the company has grown and thrived, with business acquisitions and diversification into teaching resources and outdoor furniture.
Just over two years ago Twoey invested in a significant factory extension to set up a brand new textiles section, enabling them to bring in-house the manufacturing of their range of Twoey Learning products. The extension was a very positive move for the business, it created employment opportunities locally and meant they could oversee the full production of their range of over 500 furniture and educational products. Great for Cumbria and the UK economy too!
Johanne Miller, Managing Director at Twoey, said of the awards, “We have been overwhelmed by the support and feedback since receiving the CFBA award, it is a truly great achievement for the company and staff. The award now takes pride of place in our reception area, for all staff and visitors to appreciate when they come to our factory.
Rachel Kilpin-Miller, Deputy Managing Director, who attended the awards ceremony on behalf of Team Twoey, received the award from Chris Lamont and Dave Myers. Rachel said on receiving the award “We are so very proud and excited to have received this Family Business of the Year Award in Manufacturing. To have this kind of industry recognition is such a boost for all of the team at Twoey. Everyone in the factory works very hard to produce our top quality range of products and we are delighted that this has been recognized with such a high profile award”.
With Jo and Rachel at the helm of the business, Twoey continues to grow and expand as they enter their milestone 21st year of trading. The business has big plans for the future and they now supply Twoey branded products worldwide with the Twoey Learning range available in 10 different languages. This Cumbrian business is really going places..!
