PRESS RELEASE
Market-leading UK playground company Playforce has joined the Youth Sport Trust’s Business Honours Club as of September 2013. The Youth Sport Trust is an independent charity devoted to changing young lives through sport.
Playforce seeks to use its association with the Business Honours Club to increase awareness of the importance of sport, PE and active outdoor play in tackling the battle against obesity and other life-limiting child health issues.
As an accredited Partner in the Youth Sport Trust Business Honours Club, schools working with Playforce can trust that the investment they are making in their playground or outdoor space will help to deliver both physical literacy and educational outcomes. Exclusive Business Honours Club partnerships are entered into with companies based on their innovation and ability to develop and deliver products and services to help enhance PE and school sport.
Managing Director of Playforce, Dr. Colin MacAdam, said: “Our Partner status in the Youth Sport Trust Business Honours Club demonstrates that there is a vital role for play in addressing increasing child health issues. As a responsible play company, we believe we have a duty to develop equipment, resources and spaces that help address the hugely significant challenges facing today’s children and which can be used easily within the school day.
“For many children, school provides the only opportunity to take part in active outdoor play so our mission is to help schools create the most valuable, effective and life-enriching experiences and environments possible. To this end, we have recently launched our Fundamental Movement Skills range which enables children to develop key physical skills like balance, agility, strength and co-ordination. This hybrid range bridges the gap between sport and play.”
Jo Simpson, Finance & Corporate Services Director, Youth Sport Trust said: “It’s great to have Playforce in our Business Honours Club and we’re looking forward to working together to support young people through sport. Engaging young people from an early age and ensuring that they enjoy taking part in physical activity is something we are hugely passionate about. It’s important that schools have access to high quality suppliers, and this is why our partnership with Playforce is so important.”
In a recent Playforce survey, one in eight (12%) primary school children said they don’t enjoy PE and sport at school and one in 12 (8%) wish they didn’t do PE and sport at all. Meanwhile, over a fifth (22%) disagreed when asked if their playground has fun and interesting things to play with.
