Young people are being inspired as soon as their feet touch the floor at specialist music school Dixons Music Primary in Bradford. Here, Supacord carpet tiles from Heckmondwike FB have been specified for the classrooms, nursery, corridors and stairs.
The main contractor was Wates Construction and Fresco Group of Leeds installed the carpet, which was specified by Bradford City Council.
The carpet boasts an inspirational design, which features a stunning band of different colours including red, yellow, orange, willow, purple, blue, green, azure, aquamarine, anthracite. Linking closely to the musical ethos of the school, this eyecatching design represents the colours of a graphic equalizer! Each of the corridors leading to the classrooms feature this stunning design and each classroom to the left and right of the corridor also continues with that colour band. This stylish design is repeated on both the ground and first floor levels, with Supacord in charcoal providing a neutral contrast in other areas of the school. Supacord in red is also used on the staircase leading from the coloured corridor to add impact.
In addition, Diamond entrance area from Heckmondwike FB was installed in the school’s entrance in Charcoal, to provide added protection and enhance longevity of the the rest of the carpet from shoeborne dirt, grit and moisture.
Abby Chandler, Commercial Manager for Heckmondwike FB, said: “Many schools are choosing to maximise their floor space with messages and designs that reinforce the values of the schools and help to increase attainment levels. Within our Supacord range, we offer 42 colours, so there is huge scope for inspiring pupils through the carpet, which is certainly the case on this project.”
Abby Chandler continues: “Supacord is a very popular choice with schools, not least because it is extremely robust and helps create the aesthetics that they are looking for. The carpet will help create a positive learning environment for the school, inspiring pupils to raise their attainment levels.”

The primary school is run by Dixons Multi Academy Trust. Michelle Long headteacher of Dixons Music Primary, said: “The carpet was chosen , as a contrast to the clean finish of the walls and brings life and colour into the building. The rainbow effect is usually the first thing children and visitors comment on!”
