BBC Studios and CENTURY Tech announce a new partnership, launching the BBC Bitesize Learning Collection on CENTURY’s teaching and learning platform, featuring content from BBC Studios Science and Natural History Units documentaries.
This unique partnership brings together the BBC’s high-quality, world-renowned content and CENTURY’s award-winning education technology. Six iconic BBC documentaries will be available as learning courses on CENTURY’s teaching and learning platform, with exciting plans for additional courses in the near future.
BBC Studios, the commercial arm of the BBC, has adapted over 25 hours of video content into more than 300 engaging lessons, which have been seamlessly integrated into CENTURY’s platform. Each micro-lesson includes a short educational video and ends with a series of formative assessment questions developed by subject-matter experts. These questions are automatically marked, and students receive tailored feedback to help them solidify knowledge and enhance understanding. These materials also foster the values of quality, trust and engagement which are the hallmark of the BBC’s UK-leading BBC Bitesize education service, and bring the best of the BBC to the classroom.
Students can jet off into space to learn about our solar system in The Planets with Zachary Quinto. They can explore the wonders of our natural world in Planet Earth II, journey to the ice caps in Frozen Planet or dive to the depths of our oceans in Blue Planet II with legendary British naturalist Sir David Attenborough. They can watch as Animal Babies take their first steps into the world with wildlife presenter Gordon Buchanan. Students can even travel back in time to the world of the Deadly Dinosaurs with Steve Backshall.
These courses can be used in class or as homework, and cover a multitude of concepts and phenomena in natural history, science and geography curricula. They are ideal to spark interest in lessons, delight curiosity in assemblies, or set students off on their own independent learning adventure. Teachers can follow student engagement and progress with easy-to-use data dashboards. Parents can rest assured that their children are engaging with the BBC’s vetted, highly curated content library on CENTURY Tech’s platform to enrich their education.
The BBC Bitesize Learning Collection on CENTURY is available to schools and learning organisations everywhere around the world outside of the UK.
