A recent TES survey showed workload and pay restraint as the top two reasons for the increasing numbers of teachers quitting. According to the NAHT heads’ union, teacher retention is a key factor in headteachers’ inability to fill posts. Added to this, there has also been a 40% drop in teacher training applications. The top 3 priorities for many headteachers in 2018 are to reduce costs, retain talented teachers and streamline teacher workload. At this year’s Bett Show, visit stand B241 to find out how B Squared’s ‘teacher timesavers’ are helping headteachers to address these challenges. Meet Deputy Headteacher Jo Johnson from Heath Farm School to hear how she’s using B Squared software to support good practice in the classroom. The Company’s assessment software Connecting Steps and evidence management software Evisense help teachers to ‘escape the pain of paperwork’ and focus on what they do best – teaching.

Evisense enables teachers to manage pupils’ evidence of learning and build a library of evidence that ‘tells the story’ of a child’s education in photo/video/audio and document format.

“Make teachers’ hours count by using Evisense to enable quick, easy and more efficient observations,” says Dale Pickles, Managing Director at B Squared. “Reduce time spent recording and collating pupil observations – creating more time for marking and proactive lesson planning. Help your teachers gain control and feel positive about their workloads.”

Evisense has been designed to provide teachers with a simple and straightforward way to manage evidence of learning. It enables schools to collect photos, videos, audio and documents to create a portfolio of an individual’s educational journey. Accessible via multiple platforms – Android, iOS, Amazon Fire apps and web browser – teaching staff can easily and quickly share recorded evidence with parents, giving them a clear insight into their child’s progress and increasing parental engagement. B Squared launch NEW ‘Rochford Review Ready’ assessment frameworks for children with SEND
Since the publication of the Rochford Review in 2016, B Squared has been working to identify the best approach to meet the changing needs of schools using its market-leading Connecting Steps assessment software. This has included changing the structure of its assessment frameworks, the breadth of its content and increasing its focus on the holistic achievements of pupils.

The Final Report identified two categories of pupils with SEND. Engagement Steps is B Squared’s brand new observation-based, formative assessment framework aimed at schools working with children who have PMLD, SLD, or CLDD. It is designed to support the learning and assessment of students not yet engaged in subject-specific learning. Progression Steps is available to help teachers identify and record the on-going achievements of pupils who are engaged in subject-specific learning but who are working moderately or severely beneath age-related expectations.

Teachers registering an interest in either of these new frameworks at the Show will receive a 10% discount on the purchase price if ordered within 30 days.
