Primary Schools Effectiveness Adviser – Herts for Learning
Salary
Band 6, £64,000 - £66,000 FTE based on appropriate skills and experience
Date Ending
February 25, 2022
Are you an experienced senior leader or school improvement professional who is passionate about supporting and helping schools to develop?
If you want to make a positive difference towards children’s outcomes and are considering what lies next for you both personally and professionally, we would love to hear from you.
Contract: Permanent, fulltime at 37 hours per week (part time considered)
Salary: Band 6, £64,000 – £66,000 FTE based on appropriate skills and experience.
Location: Hertfordshire, with the flexibility to be able to access and work within client settings in neighbouring counties as required.
Our ‘working from anywhere’ approach encourages colleagues to plan their time and diaries to reflect their role requirements – across a mix of on-site time within client schools and settings, remote working, and up to 2 days per week in our Head Office in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. As there is a permanent home working element to this role, you will need to ensure you are equipped for home working.
Where Governmental guidance upon employers requires us to adopt particular restrictions or approaches, HfL will provide accordingly for our colleagues to work remotely – where products or services cannot be delivered effectively on-site within client schools, settings and trusts.
About Us
Herts for Learning (HfL) is a leading provider of school improvement and business support services, training and resources, that enable schools, settings and trusts to deliver a great education. We believe that every young person, through access to a great education, should be able to realise their potential, regardless of where they live, their background or circumstances.
Our work is focused on supporting the schools, settings and trusts we work with to achieve successful long-term outcomes for their children. HfL is the UK’s largest School Company, operating as a social enterprise on a not-for-profit basis.
The Role
We are looking to recruit a School Effectiveness Adviser to work as part of a team supporting primary schools and settings. This post will be high profile and focused on system leadership to improve outcomes for all pupils.
You will work alongside headteachers and senior leaders, supporting their self-evaluation, quality assurance and continuous improvement planning. As part of our team, you will utilise your skills and experience to develop new products, services and training that meet the needs of the range of schools that we support. You will be self-motivated, flexible and be prepared to travel to client schools throughout Hertfordshire and beyond (travel allowance paid).
We are looking for an excellent leader, with a successful headship background within schools, and/or local authority or multi-academy trust. Experience of school inspections is desirable, but not essential.
The successful candidate will be dynamic and diligent, have a proven track record of success in raising achievement, and the ability to lead and inspire others. They will be able to identify opportunities, using a range of reference sources and benchmarking approaches, to promote and sustain a high quality of educational delivery; and equally be able to present compelling recommendations for improvements in practice to both school leaders and Governing/Trust Board stakeholders.
For this very important role, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of, and across, teams are essential. In return, you can expect excellent conditions of employment and exciting professional development opportunities.
This is a great opportunity to join a diverse and successful team and have a significant impact on large numbers of pupils across a wide range of settings.
For an informal discussion regarding the role, please contact Tracy Warner, (Director of Primary Education Services) on 07768 744931.

HfL is committed to being an equal opportunities employer. We insist on the equal treatment of all current and prospective colleagues and will never condone discrimination on the basis of age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, gender identity, or marriage and civil partnership.
HfL is also equally committed to becoming an anti-racist organisation and we encourage you to view our Black Lives Matter statement which gives clarity on our anti-racist stance. In our relentless efforts to be an anti-racist organisation, we recognise the negative impacts of under representation and lack of diversity in our organisation, our education system and in all aspects of our society. Therefore, for recruitment into any HfL post, where we have 2 or more candidates of equal merit, candidates with protected characteristics will be given advantage over candidates without such characteristics. This is sometimes referred to as a ‘tie-breaker’ and is referred to as ‘positive action’ in the Equality Act 2010.
