About the role
This role offers you the chance to take ownership of the delivery, both in-person and online, and future direction of BESA’s exhibitions, conferences, seminars, member meetings and webinars. To take on this role you must be equally happy planning events as being hands on with their delivery. The association is growing and a dynamic events programme is a core driver of our future success; we are looking for a bright, ambitious Head of Events to help us deliver on these plans.
Key responsibilities
- Management and development of a small but growing team
- Creating and delivering annual events programme and budget. Manage the budget and report on the P&L of each event, ensuring all KPIs are hit
- Working with UK and International partners and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of joint ventures
- Identifying trends and market opportunities for new events or new ways of delivering events, that will further the commercial opportunities of our members
- Working with the Membership team to maximise engagement of members and ensure a “joined-up” approach with UK and International interaction
- Working with the Marketing team to ensure all events are well attended. Includes providing events content and copy for marketing purposes.
- Delivering presentations to stakeholders, as required.
To be successful
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an events management role
- Budget and people management experience
- Experience of membership organisation preferable
- Experience in use of CRM systems, Mailchimp, SurveyMonkey
- Experience of delivering online events via Teams, Zoom or other online platforms
- Excellent presentation skills and the confidence to engage with a wide range of companies, often with individuals at a senior level
- Strong organisational skills, with an ability to juggle multiple tasks under pressure
- Responsive, agile and able to pivot and reprioritise due to emerging member needs and policy developments
- Enthusiastic and committed to achieving both individual and organisational goals, demonstrating a clear understanding of BESA and what it is trying to achieve; ability to add value to the overall team effort
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent work experience
