Letter to Gavin Williamson
Following BESA’s letter to the Secretary of State for Education it was reassuring to note the guidance, which can be viewed here, issued to public sector purchasing bodies (which includes schools) to ensure that they continue to pay suppliers as normal. This is an issue we have been discussing with many BESA members and is a welcome step forward in terms of the Government’s support for the sector.
COVID-19 ongoing research
The aim of this research project is to regularly update the sector on the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on school activities and resourcing. This first analysis reviews the findings from an online questionnaire issued to key stage leaders across maintained schools in England.
C3 Education has now updated the initial research with report #2, giving a unique insight into how schools across England are adapting to the challenges of teaching remotely, what resources and tools they are using, and what implications there might be on future school spending.

LendED
BESA has repurposed its LendED portal to offer online learning resources and teacher CPD guidance during the Coronavirus outbreak. Schools and teachers are now able to search for relevant solutions using the ‘Home Learning Resource’ filter and members can add direct links to their websites via the ‘ACCESS HOME LEARNING RESOURCES’ button.
Furthermore, a dedicated Tips & Advice page now provides guidance on best practices in implementing home learning strategies, covering issues such as how to get the best out of existing technologies and ensuring online safeguarding. We will be looking to add new blogs, webinars and podcast content to this Tips & Advice page on a day to day basis.
If you are a BESA member and not yet on LendED please contact us via email.
