This year at Bett 2018, in addition to a stand (D120) in the main hall, a new team at NetSupport will also be joining the Bett Futures zone to launch the brand new Primary assessment solution, ReallySchool.
ReallySchool offers a fresh and intuitive approach to capturing student learning experiences according to best practice. It was developed to help primary teachers and teaching assistants (TAs) meet Ofsted’s requirement to collect evidence of skills acquisition for EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) and Key Stage 1 children, to prove they are meeting their skills targets. This is usually an onerous task for teachers and often means that teachers are taking photographs, printing them out and physically sticking them into each child’s achievement log – a task that, more often than not, eats into their own time.
For teachers and TAs, the simple-to-use tablet app ensures the easiest and most flexible approach to capturing observations in the classroom. It helps them save time as they log and store evidence for each pupil with its pre-populated lists of all of the points of academic expectation for each year group. For example, it details the targets of behaviour; communication and language; literacy and numeracy; physical development; PSE; understanding the world; and interpersonal skills that Reception class children should be able to achieve. It also allows teachers to log the different levels of mastery as a child learns. One key benefit of ReallySchool for the pupils is that they don’t realise they are being assessed and therefore they behave naturally. For teachers, this means their assessments are more accurate.
It also conveniently records the teacher’s assessments in an easy-to-reference online progress report which can be moderated post-lesson from the ReallySchool Windows console, allowing for additional notes to be added. These reports highlight which children are achieving and which ones require additional intervention to ensure they meet the expected level of progress at the end of each key stage.
The solution also allows children’s progress to be shared with parents and guardians. In this way, parents can have a dialogue with the teacher to aid their child’s learning, enable different approaches and so on.
It’s easy for schools to get started with ReallySchool: they go to the website, register and create an account for their school. The system then invites teachers and TAs to set up their accounts and define their classes. Next, they download the app to their tablet to begin assessments. No training should be necessary, as the solution has been designed in the intuitive style of other social media apps. However, users are most welcome to contact our Tech Support team if they experience any issues – and free webinars are available should they require help on a specific function of the product.
You can meet the ReallySchool team on stand P13-P14 in the Bett Futures area at Bett 2018.
