The role
The Junior Designer will support the smooth running of a wide range of design projects for our publishing output as well as our marketing team with their social media content and assets.
Reporting to, and in collaboration with, the Design Manager, they will take on a wide variety of design tasks contributing to projects from across the company’s publishing output. These tasks may include, but are not limited to, cover and page design, typesetting, and sample creation
where a project may be partially fulfilled in-house. The role includes ensuring that design work is carried out on schedule and to excellent quality in content and presentation.
The Junior Designer will also work closely with the marketing team to create visual assets and
materials for Oriel Square’s social media content.
Your responsibilities
- Undertake design tasks across a range of ongoing projects
- Assist the Design Manager with design and project management tasks
- Create and issue briefs to freelancers or agencies
- Manage tasks on smaller projects
- Manage, maintain and add contacts for relevant freelancers
- Contribute to the production of visual assets for social media.
Your skills
- Design background with demonstrable experience
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, with focus on InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Strong understanding of differences and considerations for digital and print products
- A desire to work in a flexible way, taking on varied tasks across a number of projects as well as ad hoc jobs to support our editorial team with their day-to-day management of projects.
Conditions and pay
Oriel Square believes in productive hours, not long hours. This informs our 28 hour full-time policy. Our working week is shorter than that of many employers, but we get at least as much done without sacrificing quality.
