The clerking role is a flexible role which can fit around other work or family commitments and provides an opportunity to support schools from a governance perspective and a chance to increase your skills and knowledge of education legislation.
The clerk to the governing board will be accountable to the governing board, working effectively with the chair of governors, and the governing board. The clerk will be responsible for proving support and advice to the governing board on constitutional and procedural matters, duties and powers and will work in line with statutory legislation. They will also secure the continuity of governing board business and observe confidentiality. Meetings are generally held in the evenings on fixed dates, but preparation support and follow up actions will fit in with a clerk’s own availability.
For this role we are looking for individuals with good administration skills including attention to detail, and governance and school knowledge. Successful candidates will be required to attend a remote full day induction.

The team are currently supporting schools and settings both in person and remotely. Therefore, the ability to reach different locations by car will be essential. If you drive, then a full driving licence and appropriate car insurance will be required. Also, as there is a permanent home working element to this role, you will need to ensure you are equipped for home working.
